Hear guest interviews, upcoming events and helpful discussions as we explore the thriving YP community in the area. Young professionals are faced with opportunities and challenges that are constantly changing in today’s fast-paced environment. In order to provide you with the most relevant information, Mike has teamed up with one of the premier YP organizations in Greater Des Moines, the Young Professionals Connection (YPC).

YPC's mission is to promote an environment that attracts and retains young professionals in Greater Des Moines. Their efforts focus on connecting young professionals to each other and to the community through social, civic, charitable, and professional development endeavors.

They are a focused extension of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, started when visionaries of the Partnership recognized that the 20-to-30-something age demographic needed a voice in our community. The Partnership, along with some like-minded young professionals formed the Young Professionals Connection in 2000.

Today, YPC is a dynamic network of leaders shaping Greater Des Moines into a place to thrive. We activate more than 500 members by engaging them in YPC committees and events, Greater Des Moines Partnership activities, and community organizations.

A young professional himself, Mike Banasiak is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional with Legacy Financial Group, an independent wealth management firm in Urbandale. He lives in West Des Moines with his wife, Kate, and their golden retriever Maggie. Mike’s volunteer activities include being a wish granter with Make-a-Wish Foundation of Iowa, Transportation Coordinator for the World Food Prize Symposium and Committee Chair for Bras for the Cause Iowa.
